2027 Health Benefits Open Enrollment

We are excited to announce that Open Enrollment for 2027 health benefits will take place from September 14, 2026 to October 9, 2026. During this period, employees can review and update their health plan selections, add or remove dependents without needing a qualifying event, and explore a range of benefit options. This is your opportunity to ensure your coverage meets your needs for the upcoming year. Benefit changes made during Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2027.

Virtual Benefits Fair- Airbo!

We are pleased to announce a virtual Benefits Fair that will be available throughout the Open Enrollment period, from September 14, 2026 to October 9, 2026. You will be able to access the fair at your convenience and explore the various options available to you as an employee. As you interact with the Benefits Fair, you can accumulate points that enter you into a weekly drawing for a chance to win gifts provided by our vendors. To start accumulating points, simply register with your name and NUSD email address—no other information is required.

Steps to Follow: 

  • Interact with the information provided in the virtual Benefits Fair.
    • All health plan information, including deductibles and copays, is listed under each provider's section.

In-Person Health Benefit Information Session

  • Date: September 14, 2026
  • Time: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Location: Ed Center Board Room

Format:
Health Benefit Providers will deliver presentations on their health plan options, rate details, and more. Following the presentations, staff will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact directly with the providers.

In addition to the presentations in the Board Room, there will be tables set up in the hallway where you can:

  • Pick up provider information packets/brochures
  • Collect promotional items
  • Engage in conversations with the providers

Seating will be provided inside the Board Room for the presentations.

Virtual Health Benefit Information Session: 

The virtual health benefit information session is available to employees via the Zoom link below. During the session, staff will be available to share details about the plans, and employees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Staff will be available via Zoom for the entire time frame of the session. You do not need to be present for the entire duration; you are welcome to join at any time during the scheduled window.

Benefit Selection Process

We will be using American Fidelity’s new online enrollment platform.

All employees must confirm their health benefit elections through the platform, and paper enrollment forms will no longer be accepted. New premium rates and plan elections will take effect on January 1, 2027.

To help with the new enrollment process, American Fidelity has created a short video that walks employees through the enrollment process. You can also view detailed step-by-step instructions for additional support.

American Fidelity representatives will also be available at each school site, the Service Center, and the Education Center to assist employees. You can view the schedule and book an appointment here. Employees only need to meet with a representative if making changes to an FSA, cancer or accident insurance, or hospital indemnity coverage.
