Empower U Academy
We are excited to launch Empower U Academy for the 2026-2027 school year to support the overall achievement of our students and to strengthen relationships and trust with our families.
Empower U Academy is open to all students in Natomas Unified School District with an intentional outreach and focus on our Black/African American families. This group was specifically identified based on data and feedback from our families for improved achievement, connectedness, and safety/wellness.
Empower U began as a one-day conference in 2025 that catered to foster males attending NUSD middle and high schools. In 2026, it expanded to serve any NUSD male in grades 5- 12 who would benefit.
The Academy builds upon the foundation of the previous format of the conference and expands to include boys and girls in grades 4-12 from any school within the District. It also serves our parents/guardians with family engagement activities and workshops that enhance parenting skills and support at home with academics and social-emotional needs. This is a program for the entire family.
The sessions are held monthly on Saturdays from 9am - 12pm at Natomas Middle School.
The engaging, culturally-rich sessions will focus on the following key areas: academic support, mentoring and coaching, family engagement, cultural identity and appreciation, and connectedness.
