Equity Multiplier Funding Overview

The Equity Multiplier funding is designed to supplement, not supplant, existing funding for our schools, ensuring additional resources to support equity efforts. These funds will enhance, rather than replace, funding received from the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program.

Activities Director's at American Lakes and Natomas Middle

The Activities Director at American Lakes and Natomas Middle Schools, supports various school initiatives, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and scholar engagement efforts. One of the key responsibilities is leading the Middle School Leadership program, where scholars meet weekly to plan events, manage announcements, and organize staff appreciation activities. They play a pivotal role on the Attendance Team, helping to drive initiatives that recognize and improve scholar attendance. This role also supports and oversees staff appreciation events, ensuring teachers and staff feel valued through monthly activities, raffles, and recognition. Fundraising and community partnerships are another focus area, coordinating efforts to raise funds and build connections with local businesses to support school programs. Finally, organize school spirit events and welcoming activities, such as campus tours for new scholars, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.

students at table — American Lakes Middle School PBIS Store: Set up in the hallway every other Friday after school. Scholars exit first, then re-enter to spend their PBIS points. Over 50 scholars stayed after school for our first store!

circle of students — Restorative Justice Training (August 2024): 23 eighth-grade Natomas Middle School Leadership students participated in the district's first youth Restorative Justice in Education Community Building Circle Training. They learned key principles, practiced the circle process, and even facilitated their own circles to build community and relationships.

In n Out Field Trip — In-N-Out Field Trip (April 2024): Took the top 13 students with the most I Ready minutes on a free tour of the Truxel In-N-Out! They enjoyed a facility tour, free lunch, a coupon for another visit, and even got to make their own french fries.

Behavior Support Assistant at American Lakes

Our comprehensive Behavior Support program is dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment for middle school students through targeted interventions. By emphasizing positive reinforcement and accountability, we implement PBIS systems that include a student store and reinforcement incentives for meeting behavior expectations.

Our approach incorporates consequences through extended learning programs and "No Go" lists, while the Eagle Way agreement provides opportunities for scholars to earn back privileges. We utilize behavior goals and a Middle School Support Tracker to monitor and guide student progress, working collaboratively with teachers and staff.

For elementary students, we offer strategies and assistance for managing challenging behaviors, ensuring a supportive atmosphere. Our program also collaborates closely with social workers, psychologists, and leadership clubs to cultivate a strong, nurturing school culture.

Teacher on Special Assignment with a focus on Literacy

This role is dedicated to enhancing educational practices through targeted professional development and the implementation of strategies that improve writing across the curriculum. Key responsibilities include:

Supporting Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) with data analysis, co-teaching, and lesson modeling.
Assisting guest teachers with effective classroom management.
Leading Tier II interventions such as Read 180 and Math180 to provide targeted support for students.
Serving as an I-Ready site lead, conducting data chats and equipping teachers with essential resources.

Additionally, this position coordinates engaging literacy events, after-school programs, and eSports clubs, creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. The TOSA also offers comprehensive English Language Development (ELD) support and facilitates the Seal of Biliteracy program to promote bilingualism among students.

Additional Social Worker at American Lakes

The Social Work developed a Middle School Leadership club dedicated to empowering scholars and building leadership skills through group sessions on topics like healthy relationships, emotional regulation, and grief/loss. Wellness is promoted through monthly newsletters and initiatives like the Kindness Action Team (KAT Club), which fosters a culture of kindness and belonging. Special events such as the Butterfly Effect of Kindness and Kindness Week engage scholars in acts of kindness. This role supports staff training on de-escalation and supports Tier III students with individualized and group support, ensuring a positive, inclusive environment for all scholars.

First Day of School 2024 - Welcoming Back Eagles: We kicked off the year with a balloon arch, music, and our amazing social worker Ms. Gaby in the Eagle costume, greeting scholars and taking pictures. A great start to the year!

Family Engagement Liaisons

These professionals build relationships with families to increase parent engagement in the school community and advocate for their children's academic and socio-emotional learning, including conducting home visits. They maintain regular communication in parents' preferred languages about school, district, and community events, while guiding families in navigating NUSD systems. They coordinate and attend school events to foster inclusion, organize parent meetings, assist with student onboarding, and support re-entry processes. Additionally, they create outreach materials, help parents understand school policies, track family engagement, and connect with community organizations. They manage Parent Resource Centers, participate in staff meetings, and collaborate with the District’s Family Engagement team, ensuring continuity and flexibility for evening meetings.

Additional Campus Safety Support

This professional ensures the safety and security of students, staff, and school property by maintaining a visible presence, discouraging inappropriate behavior, and addressing potential safety concerns. In addition to promoting a safe learning environment, campus safety monitors assist with student social emotional needs, support order during school activities, and provide guidance to students.
