NUSD’s Intentional Efforts to Support Black/African American Student Success
The Natomas Unified School District is committed to supporting all of its students to be successful. During the November 15th board meeting, there was an intentional, targeted presentation that addressed the needs of NUSD’s Black/African American students. While there are many areas to celebrate for our Black/African American students, such as graduation rates that exceed the state average and high A-G completion rates, staff shared that there are some areas of concern such as proficiency in English Language Arts and math according to performance indicators such as state testing (CAASPP).
Staff shared 10 strategies to improve Black/African American student success. These are aligned with the district’s vision, core values, and five district goals. The diagram below reflects each goal, the strategies to be implemented within each goal, and the action items currently in progress or planned in the future.
