Special Diet

Nutrition Services can help if your child has a food allergy, medical condition, or other dietary need. Here is how to get started.

No form is needed if your child:

Does not drink cow’s milk. Students are not required to take milk with their school meal. If your child can eat the other foods offered and you do not want a milk substitute, no form is needed.
Follows a vegetarian diet. A vegetarian option is available daily at all NUSD schools, and no form is needed to choose it.

When to contact us or fill out a form

Food allergies and medical conditions: If your child has a food allergy or medical condition that affects what they can eat at school, please contact Nutrition Services at 916-567-5473. We’ll talk with you about your child’s needs and let you know if a Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations is needed. You can contact us before completing a form.

A substitute for cow’s milk: If your child only needs a substitute for the milk served with a meal, a parent or guardian can complete the Parental Request for a Fluid Milk Substitution. If your child also needs to avoid foods containing milk, such as cheese or yogurt, please contact Nutrition Services.

If you are unsure which option applies, please contact us at nutritionservices@natomasunified.org. We’ll help you with the next step.
