School Safety

Natomas Unified School District consistently and actively pursues opportunities to improve the safety of our students and our schools. Our mission is to create a safe environment where all students are appropriately positioned and equipped to achieve their educational, social and lifetime goals. Each school within Natomas Unified School District has a safety committee that meets three times per year, which contributes to the composition of the Comprehensive School Safety Plan, due to be approved by the Board of Education by March 1, annually. To report an alarm that is ringing outside of normal business hours, please call (888) 746-7539. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Emergency Preparedness Plan

Every school and site in the Natomas Unified School District maintains and adheres to an Emergency Preparedness Plan. In addition to our online safety preparedness manuals, each site maintains a binder with procedures for emergencies. Red Ribbon Week

Natomas Unified School District actively participates in National Red Ribbon Week. This week is dedicated to the prevention of Bullying and living Drug-Free. NUSD Ribbon Week includes presentations, programs, assemblies, and activities at many of our schools. Natomas Unified School District is proud to be bully-free and drug-free! Safe Routes to School

Tobacco-Free Schools and Facilities

The Natomas Unified Board of Trustees recognizes that tobacco and nicotine products constitute a serious public health hazard and are inconsistent with district goals to provide a healthy environment for students and staff. All District property is tobacco-free. Prohibited products include cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, electronic cigarettes, electronic hookahs, and other vapor-emitting devices, with or without nicotine content, that mimic the use of tobacco products. NUSD’s policy does not ban use of prescription products and other cessation aids, such as a nicotine patch or gum, that are federally approved for such use. Discipline

Natomas Unified School District is actively pursuing a safe environment for all students. The District enforces California Education Code 48900 and 48915 as related to disciplinary issues and delivers appropriate and equitable discipline when necessary.
