Attendance Information
District Goal
Achieving a 95 percent attendance rate means students miss nine days or fewer of school over the entire school year. Parents and families are essential partners in promoting good attendance because they have the bottom-line responsibility for making sure their children get to school every day.
Did you know that studies show the following:
- Half the students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.
- Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade.
- By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
- When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances of graduating.
- Missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month, and that’s known as chronic absence.
Motivating Moments with Ms. Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential because it equips students with crucial knowledge and skills, enabling them to make informed decisions, pursue fulfilling careers, and contribute positively to society. School also promotes social interaction, emotional development, and a sense of community, helping students become well-rounded individuals.
