Superintendent's Office
Robyn Castillo, Ed.D., began her superintendency with Natomas Unified School District on July 1, 2023, and has over 30 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge in the field of education. Dr. Castillo holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master of Arts in Reading and Language Arts, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno
Castillo’s background in K-12 education is extensive and spans across a vast area of functions and roles including leadership as Associate Superintendent for Instructional Services which included oversight of Special Education, Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability, Nursing Services, Child Development, Early Learning, and Afterschool programs. As an Assistant Superintendent, she had direct oversight of an area within the Clovis Unified School District that serves 8,500 students at the elementary, middle and high school grades. Some of her other roles throughout her educational career include Classroom Teacher, Guidance Instructional Specialist, Learning Director, and Principal of a Title 1 School.

Highlights from Dr. Castillo’s First Year in NUSD:

Opened Heredia-Arriaga School, the district’s first school with a dual immersion program

Development and approval of the Forward 5 Strategic Plan, which sets the district’s direction for the next five years

Launched ParentSquare, a new, district-wide communication tool

Two additional schools (American Lakes and Bannon Creek) authorized as International Baccalaureate World Schools. Seven NUSD schools are now IB World Schools.

Increased actions and investments to support the success of Black/African American students in NUSD

Augmented existed Career Technical Education (CTE) offerings for students

National recognition for Two Rivers Elementary as an AVID Showcase schools

Launched LEAP Academy, allowing younger students to continue learning beyond school hours

Celebrated multiple athletic achievements, including 10 League Champions and 2 CIF-SJS Section Champions

Construction of the B. Teri Burns Health Clinic, which will formally open in Fall 2024

Demonstrated inclusivity with NUSD’s first ever LGBTQIA+ Student Conference

Held the first ever district-wide Multicultural Fair, which over 1,500 people attended
