College and Career Progress Monitoring

For Parents and Guardians: A guide to monitoring your student's progress towards high school graduation and college eligibility

NUSD is committed to providing parents and guardians with access to up-to-date information about their student’s progress towards high school graduation and college eligibility. It is our goal to partner with families to monitor this status ongoing, beginning in 9th grade and throughout high school, to ensure that we are working together effectively to support each student their college and career readiness. When an issue that has the potential to take a student off-track is identified early, we can collaborate between home and school to find a solution and support the student in taking the necessary steps to get back on track.

NUSD currently is using two key tools that provide parents, guardians, and students access to real-time information about their progress towards high school graduation and college eligibility. We encourage families to use these tools frequently to check on their student’s progress and to reach out to their student’s counselor or other school staff to collaboratively address any identified needs.

Monitoring Progress Towards High School Graduation

Parents/guardians and students can use the Multi-Year Academic Planning (MYAP) Tool inside of our Student Information System (Infinite Campus) to view their student’s progress towards high school graduation. This tool shows a students progress in terms of total units as well as their fulfillment of specific HS graduation requirements.

Monitoring Progress Towards College Eligibility

Parents/guardians and students can use the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) tool to view their student’s progress to UC/CSU eligibility (their ‘a-g’ completion status). This is the same tool that students use to engage in detailed research and planning throughout the college exploration process and also to launch their Financial Aid application (FAFSA) and UC/CSU college applications.

If you have further questions about how to access these tools to view your student’s progress, college eligibility in general, high school graduation, or the college/career preparation process, we encourage you to reach out to your student’s high school counselor and/or college and career coordinator.
