Student Privacy Rights

NUSD is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families. No personal information about students or their parents/guardians, including phone numbers, home addresses or email addresses, shall be published on NUSD webpages.

Photographs of students shall be used only with permission from the students’ parents/guardians collected annually as part of NUSD’s Annual Notifications.

Additionally, the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 protects the student privacy of educational records. FERPA rights are granted to parents of students under the age of 18, and these rights transfer to the student when they turn 18 or enter a post-secondary institution.
