NUSD Summer Digital Backpack

The LEAP Academy offers three high-quality summer programs for currently enrolled TK–5 students, running June 4 through July 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed June 19 and July 3).

Each full-day program provides a balanced experience of academic support in reading and math, engaging enrichment activities, and a safe, structured environment for students. Families can choose from the Literacy Learning Lab at Bannon Creek, which focuses on foundational reading skills; the Generation Teach STEAM Academy at Witter Ranch, which emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math; and Freedom Schools at H. Allen Hight, which centers on literacy, leadership, and culturally responsive learning.

Natomas Unified is proud to offer the All Things Pretty mentoring program this summer, specifically designed for female students currently in third, fourth, and fifth grades.
This program empowers girls to find the power in their voices while building the self-esteem and confidence necessary to develop lifelong leadership and social-emotional skills. Participants will also learn how to foster and nurture healthy, positive relationships with their peers.

Registration is open to students who will be enrolled in an NUSD school (except independent charter schools):

Middle School Ed Camp - By Invitation Only - Students who will be entering 7th and 8th grade in the 2026-2027 school year will have the opportunity to participate in an academic enrichment program to enhance their skills in Math, ELA, and Career Technical Education. The summer program will run for 4 weeks, from Monday, June 8th, through Thursday, July 2nd. The start time will be 8:30 am, and the end time will be 2:00 pm. Students will receive daily lunch. This program will be another opportunity for our students to enhance their learning.

Bike Camp is a summer week loaded with fun! Bike Camp is for middle schoolers (entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades) who live or go to school in North Natomas and already know how to ride a bike.

Campers boost their confidence exploring local bike routes to parks and restaurants and learn to keep their bike in good condition! We ride a bit more each day. One-week camp includes a bike ride to Old Sac and the Sac Bike Kitchen. Additionally, students learn how to load their bike on a city bus and use a bus pass!

Plan ahead and invite friends to join you!

Jibe Provides:  bikes, helmets, snacks, and lunches from local restaurants

The summer program for our English Learners will focus on providing direct support to high school students enrolled in Summer School for the purpose of earning credits for classes needed for graduation and support with completing A-G credits.

Summer at City Hall is an interactive learning experience that provides current 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students an opportunity to learn about local government processes, the tiers of the city, and how to become an active citizen in the community. Program participants are supported by adult allies, including credentialed teachers, city staff, and peer mentors, facilitating learning opportunities focused on civic engagement, local-level governmental structures, and youth development practices. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a monetary stipend. Please note that the program will not offer high school credits this summer.

Students who are interested in participating in the program must apply with City Hall by May 22, 2026 at 11:59 PM. The application will open on April 17, 2026. City Hall will directly notify students who are selected to participate in the program. The application will be linked here when it becomes available.

The Youth Workforce Program is for incoming 11th and 12th-grade students to participate in a weeklong series of interactive workshops where they will gain the knowledge and skills needed to join the workforce. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to build a resume, dress for success, interview skills, and hear from working professionals about the variety of careers available. At the end of the workshops, students will get a chance to interview with local businesses for an internship or paid job. Hiring is determined by the local businesses conducting the interviews, and not all students will receive an offer. While not all students may be offered an internship or paid job at the end of the program, they will have the tools to assist them with applying for future jobs. This program is in partnership with the Natomas Chamber of Commerce and SAFE Credit Union. 

The workshops will be from June 8 to 12, from 10 am to 2 pm, except on Friday, June 12, which will end at 3 pm to accommodate interviews. Starting on April 6, 2026, students can submit an application to be considered for the program through this link by May 1, 2026, at 4 pm.
